With the brothers in Porto Alegre

Me with José, the 94 years-old man

I stopped in Porto Alegre mainly for meeting people than for the place. The city has some nice buildings to see but nothing astonishing. It is more a student city, since universities are good.

A stay with the salist brothers

I spent my nights in another big city close to Porto Alegre, Canoas. The salist brothers hosted me inside the university. One of the brother José, a 94 years old man,
is part of the family.

The German influence

The South part of Brazil has a huge German touch due to the German immigration. As an example, a city nearby is called “Novo Hamburgo” that is simply “New Hamburg”. Thus, my ancestor at the time of the grandfather of my grandfather moved from Germany to Brazil.

José, the inexhaustible

I already said that he is 94, and you might imagine a “too” old man. However, although aged, he is still dynamic. He wakes up early for the priest, sees the professors for knowing how it is going to the school he has been taught and has taught. Not only, he still reads books about his realm psychology but also sends emails.

Really, seeing someone such active at 94 was worth the tour.

A musical experience

Moreover, I spent some time with another brother that showed me the instruments in the Church. The complete presentation included a piano, an organ, a harpsichord and a portable organ! Definitely, I loved more and more music.

I might add that the food in the brother’s institute was really delicious and various!

An engineer friend met previously

I found again a friend I met in Cordoba. It is a student engineer in the city. He took me in a nice bar called Old Man Drink. Surprisingly, the fashion drink there is hydromiel but in a champagne glass (of course)!
