Picante de Lengua

Beef tongue. The “Picante” is the type of way to cook and sauce the meat. you can find it for chicken, beef, pork… Usually, it was not really spicy.

Caldo

Caldo is a type of soup with meat and vegetables inside. Various versions exist.

Huminta and Tamal

Corn paste cooked in the hot water and in the oven. The Tamal version contained meat or cheese inside. Usually, it is wrapped inside a leave.

Saltena

The equivalent of the Empanadas in Bolivia. It is filled with meat, vegetables, olives, potatoes and lot of sauce. I needed 1 month for learning how to eat it without saucing myself.

Filled with meat and vegetables, you can accompany it with many salads and sauces available at the stand you buy it.

Papa rellena

Mashed potatoes as a ball filled with meat, cheese or egg.

A kind of crepe with cheese and egg.

Beverage

Mocochinchi

Mocochinchin: A sweet juice with a peach inside

A sweet juice with cinnamon flavor and with a peach inside, very delicious

Somo

A fresh sweet drink made with a kind of corn. For me, it reminded me more gnocchi. But, it is nice.

Linaza Caliente

A hot drink made of linaza and lemon.

Made from purple corn and spiced with cinnamon, cloves, orange zest and sugar.

Tumbo juice

The fruit called Tumbo looks like Passion fruit, however, it is less acid.

Singani

Liqueur made with grapes. It is the traditional alcohol of Bolivia.

Kind of Bolivian caipirinha. Made with Singani, lemon, sprite, ice and coca leaves.
